Will the unsung hero please identify yourself?

He won't be the first name you think of.

Or the second or third, most likely.

But when the Blackhawks take the ice tonight against the Nashville Predators to begin what many predict will be a long playoff run, someone who's not named Toews, Kane or Hossa will no doubt be the unsung hero of the playoffs.

"Everybody wants to be that guy, right?" said fourth line center Colin Fraser, who has to be among the favorites to take that title after closing the regular season with a flourish - scoring 5 goals in the final four games to earn regular shifts beginning tonight.

"I'm just going to continue the way I've been playing," Fraser said. "I'm not going to change anything down the stretch here."

Fraser isn't the only name that came up on a quick tour of the locker room on the eve of the playoffs. There are a number of candidates, and that can only bode well for the Blackhawks.

Who else is in contention?

"I think a guy who always seems to show up big in games is Ben Eager," said center Andrew Ladd. "He's got a lot more skill than everyone gives him credit for."

Any others?

"I think another guy would be Niklas Hjalmarsson," Ladd said. "I think he quietly has gone about his business the whole year but he's probably been up there with Duncs (Duncan Keith) in terms of our top defender.

"The things he does defensively are simple but exceptional the way he does them."

Ladd himself also picked up a vote.

"He kind of flies under the radar," Fraser said. "Throughout the season and last season he's put up pretty good points - 17 goals this year and whatever he had last year (15). He's a guy that quietly goes about his business but gets it done."

Goalie Cristobal Huet struggled coming up with just one or two guys.

"It could be a lot of people," Huet said.

"It could be a D-man. Our fourth line was very good last year (in the playoffs) and Buff (Dustin Byfuglien) was also very good.

"It could be anyone."

We'll find out the true contenders beginning Friday night.
