Health care victory of American values
It's a law now; before it was a dream. Choosing a good healthy life is our right not a option. We should not have to face that situation where we have to decide whether we should buy the medicine or put the food on the table for our family.
Passing health reform is a historic victory for all Americans. Health care is not a Democratic or Republican issue, It's not a blue state's or red state's issue, It's a human issue. Our health and our lives must not be controlled by insurance companies or some special interest group.
I was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney failure in 2005 and denied my short term disability in 2006 by a insurance company because of pre-existing conditions. All of a sudden, my American dream had become a nightmare. I started to have the worst financial tough time. I cannot support my family now. I could not explain to my little kids that my pre-existing conditions is a huge sin or a crime. My kidney failure gotten worst now because of the insurance company.
Passing health reform is a victory of our American values. It gives me hope that my kids won't have the same problem I had. It gives me hope that all Americans will now have the sure chance to get health insurance. Hope and courage make us true Americans.
