Two more eliminated from 'Idol,' but DeWyze rocks through
Lee DeWyze made the cut again on Wednesday, as he inches closer and closer to the "American Idol" crown.
All the judges loved DeWyze's cover of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" on Tuesday. And so did the show's viewers who voted 34 million times this week - the most so far this season.
"I'm having more fun," a more relaxed DeWyze told host Ryan Seacrest. "I'm being myself more."
If DeWyze, 24, survives four more weeks and makes it to the top three, "American Idol" schedules visits to the contestants' hometown. In visits past, as many as 20,000 people have come out.
The tense double elimination show sent home Andrew Garcia, 24 and Katie Stevens, 17. Both descended into the bad karaoke Simon Cowell warned them about.
"Thank you guys. I mean I appreciate everything," said a teary Garcia after his final performance. "I'm glad I'm here. You guys let me experience something I've never experienced before. Thank you."
Stevens also got emotional saying she'd remember "all the amazing people I met and the amazing experience that this was."
Tuesday, the final seven "American Idol" contestants will sing inspirational tunes and Alicia Keys will serve as guest mentor.
After a hiatus in 2009, "Idol Gives Back," the show's benefit gala, returns for its third year on Wednesday.
The special will feature performances from The Black Eyed Peas, Elton John, Joss Stone and Carrie Underwood.
