Addison teen dies after suspected heroin overdose

A 36-year-old Chicago man is accused of supplying the heroin that led to a suspected fatal overdose this week of an Addison teenager.

Patrick Peacock was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, and two counts of delivering a controlled substance to a person younger than 18.

The female high school student died Sunday afternoon, shortly after the Addison Police and Fire departments responded to reports of an unresponsive female minor inside a home on the 600 block of Brier Hill. The girl and another female high school student were taken to Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare; the victim was pronounced dead at approximately 12:30 p.m. and the companion was treated and released, reports stated. Their names and ages are being kept private because both girls are minors.

Addison police said a substance believed to be heroin was recovered at the residence and is the suspected cause of death. The DuPage County Coroner's Office completed an autopsy, but police said toxicology results are pending and will take several weeks to determine.

According to an Addison police investigation, officers learned the deceased girl and the same companion drove to Chicago and allegedly purchased suspected heroin from Peacock.

Peacock later attempted to deliver suspected heroin to law enforcement officials in the area of the northwest side of Chicago, said police. He was taken into custody by Chicago police and later charged. Peacock's bond information was not available Tuesday.
