Residents can appeal tax bills

Residents of Palatine and Wheeling Townships can now file an appeal to their recent 2009 property assessment/property valuation notices at the Cook County Board of Review if they feel that their assessment is too high.

The deadline is Thursday, May 13.

Successful appeals will show the new assessed valuation on the second half of 2009 tax year bills, which should be out this fall, Palatine Township Assessor Terry Kelly said. For more information, call Palatine Township at (847) 358-6159 or Wheeling Township at (847) 259-1515.
