Downers Grove woman dies in Kane County crash

A Downers Grove woman died in a two-car crash Saturday night in an unincorporated area of Kane County.

Louise Wentworth, 55, of the 1000 block of West Gilberts, was eastbound on Lasher Road in Big Rock Township about 5 p.m. Saturday when she failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Department. Wentworth's Acura was struck on the passenger side by a Ford pickup truck traveling northbound on Dauberman Road that did not have a stop sign.

Wentworth was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Thomas Tecza, 43, of the 40W700 block of Wild Briar Road in Elgin, was transported by the Big Rock Fire Department to Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Sheriff's police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved, and no citations have been issued.

The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and sheriff's detectives are investigating.
