6 hurt in Crystal Lake-area crash

Six people were injured in a head-on collision near Crystal Lake Sunday, McHenry County sheriff's officials said Monday.

Officials said a blue sedan and a white SUV were heading in opposite directions when one of the vehicles crossed the center line near the intersection of Walkup Road and Shenandoah Court at about 8 p.m.

All six people involved in the accident were taken to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Officials also said alcohol seems to have played a role in the accident, though details of the crash will not be released until after 2 p.m.
