Organ donor stories should inspire others

I am writing in response to the article "Organ donation advocate gives a kidney for the cause." It was easy to see while reading the article that the author did his research on the subject of donation.

Through his interviews with doctors, donors, and recipients of kidneys he allowed the readers insight into these chain donations from many points of view. I believe this article can help to raise awareness about organ donation. Most people don't realize how many lives depend on organ donation. Many deaths each year are due to the fact that organs are so scarce.

As a volunteer at a local hospital, I've spent some time shadowing nurses. I once saw a patient with six months to live who had just received word he would be getting a new liver. He was in the fourth month and was getting worse.

I hope this article inspires people to participate in donations.

This man is donating his kidney to a complete stranger simply because he feels it's the right thing to do. The donors in this operation are putting themselves through surgery for the benefit of someone they have never met before.

If more people were as giving and courageous as these donors, the world would be a much better place. More people should be encouraged by this article to donate their organs. Organ donation is a great cause that is often overlooked for how beneficial it can be. Peoples' lives are changed for the better because of an operation like this. By writing this article the author not only raised awareness on the subject of organ donation, but he showed how much a good deed can do.
