Stevenson hits its way to victory

Stevenson's softball team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday and did so in resounding fashion.

Heather Cohen homered and doubled, and Rebekah Ozga tripled and doubled, as the Patriots pounded host Libertyville 11-1 in a North Suburban Lake Division opener that lasted five innings.

Stevenson (1-4) received 3-for-4 efforts from Emma Patrash (3 runs, 2 stolen bases, RBI), Amanda Jaegers (2 RBI, 2 runs) and Ozga (3 RBI, 2 runs). Cohen finished 2-for-2, Ashley Niedermayer doubled and winning pitcher Allies Micucci scored twice.

Micucci struck out eight, walked one and allowed 2 hits.

One of the hits was a home run by the Wildcats' Nicole Kruckman.
