Palatine takes West lead

Palatine battled back twice from 3-goal deficits to defeat host Schaumburg 14-13 and take the lead in the Mid-Suburban West on Thursday. Both had been unbeaten in West action.

Senior Jeremy Stanton led the way for the Pirates (7-5, 4-0) with 5 goals, Brad Ferris had 4 goals and 6 steals, and Dylan Weissman had 1 goal and 6 steals.

Schaumburg (11-5, 3-1) had standout games from senior Brandon Kase (7 goals, 3 assists and 3 steals) and sophomore Randy Carr (4 goals).

• Hersey improved to 3-1 in East Division play with a 14-2 victory over Elk Grove. Brian McKee scored 4 goals, and Chris Workman and Stephen Petro had 3 apiece for the Huskies.

• Brendan Lesniak scored 6 goals as visiting Barrington (7-6, 1-3) picked up its first West Division win with a victory at Hoffman Estates.

• Clark Jensen scored 3 goals to help Wheeling improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in East play after a 9-6 victory over Rolling Meadows. The Mustangs were led by 5 goals from Damian Fitzsimons.
