Elginbull; Thousands of dollars in electronics, jewelry and martial arts equipment were stolen between 2:30 and 9 p.m. Tuesday from a home on the 200 block of North Melrose Avenue, police said. Among the items taken were a Dell Inspiron laptop, a 32-inch Magnavox television, a 19-inch Dynex television, silverware and a wireless router.bull; Two large construction vehicles belonging to the same Wauconda-based landscaping company were stolen from Elgin and Hanover Park in the past week, police said. A skid steer parked at Centennial Way and Kingsmill Drive in Elgin was taken sometime between March 26 and March 29. A similar piece of equipment was stolen from Hanover Park during the same period, according to Acres Group, which owns the vehicles. Police found evidence of an unsuccessful attempt to steal a third skid steer from the same location in Elgin.bull; Radio faceplates were stolen sometime between Monday and Wednesday from two vehicles belonging to a 30-year-old Elgin woman, police said. The vehicles were parked in an alley on the 200 block of South Channing Street.Huntleybull; An iPod touch was stolen March 25 from a backpack at Huntley High School, police said.Kane Countybull; An iPod was stolen out of a purse between 6 and 8:15 p.m. Sunday in Fox Valley Baptist Church, 16N562 Vista Lane, East Dundee, according to a police report. The purse was unattended at the time.Carybull; An employee at Smokey's Tobacco has been cited for selling a pack of cigarettes to a minor in violation of the tobacco law. The citation came as police ran surprise compliance checks on 13 businesses. Smokey's was the only one in violation, police said. As a result, the business owners will face the village's liquor control commission next week, police said.
