Three more Bears in fold: Bell, Shaw, Toeaina sign

All three of the Bears' exclusive-rights free agents - running back Kahlil Bell, linebacker Tim Shaw and defensive tackle Matt Toeaina - signed their tender offers Monday before participating in the team's first off-season workout.

Bell was impressive as a rookie late last season in limited duty. He finished second on the team with 220 rushing yards on 40 carries (5.5-yard average) and had the Bears' longest play from scrimmage, a 72-yard run on his first NFL carry.

The 5-foot-11, 212-pound Bell could move past Garrett Wolfe as the team's No. 3 runner behind Matt Forte and Chester Taylor this season.

Shaw led the Bears with 30 special-teams tackles in 2009, in his second full season in the league, and had a team-best 8 special-teams tackles in the season finale.

Toeaina has spent parts of the past three seasons on the Bears' active roster but has played in just five games. The 6-2, 308-pounder is expected to challenge for a backup spot at both tackle positions.

Exclusive-rights free agents are players who have completed between 0-2 accrued seasons of service whose contracts have expired. If tendered, they have no negotiating rights with other clubs and must sign their tender with their old club or sit out the season.
