Get the whole story on jobless benefits

You can always tell when a newspaper is biased in favor of one political party. They tend to leave out facts that are important to the story. They write half-truths.

In a recent edition of the Herald there were two articles regarding the extension of jobless funds by the U.S. Congress and how it will affect those on unemployment insurance and the reimbursement of doctors serving Medicare patients. The Herald writers chose to blame Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky, a Republican. Sen. Bunning was obeying the law of "paygo," or pay as you go. Congress must not pass any law to increase the deficit without finding a cut in spendĀing.

How convenient not to tell your readers/subscribers all the facts. Blame those nasty Republican? How about fair and balanced? What did Americans do from the founding of this great nation until unemployment insurance, Social Security, medical insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and the like? I know, but I'm going to keep it a secret.

What did the people living in Arlington Heights do before there was a Northwest Community Hospital? What about emergencies? What did families do during the Depression? What did they do before life insurance, automobile insurance? How were doctors paid for their services? What, no credit cards? What a sad way to live! I don't know, but I remember it very fondly. Take care.
