New location for forest permits:Dog exercise area passes, horse trail use permits, picnic shelter reservations or other permits can be purchased at the Lake County Forest Preserve District's new operations and public safety facility, 19808 W. Grand Ave., just west of Route 45, in Lindenhurst. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Purchases also can be made by calling (847) 968-3411. The new location houses several offices that had been in the Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda, including: construction; mechanical services; forestry; natural resource and maintenance; and, public safety. Permits and shelter reservations are also available at www.LCFPD.org or (847) 367-6640.Rainbow trout at Lakewood Forest Preserve:Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda will open for rainbow trout fishing on Saturday, April 3, following the release of roughly 600 trout in Banana Lake. Fishing in the Lake County Forest Preserves is free, but anglers ages 16 and older must have an Illinois fishing license. Trout fishermen must also have an Illinois inland trout stamp. Proceeds from the sale of the stamps help fund the stocking program. Most of the trout range in size from three-quarters of a pound to one pound. The deepest point in Banana Lake is 25 feet. In McHenry County, trout is being stocked at Lake Atwood at the Hollows Conservation Area of the McHenry County Conservation District. Check http://www.mccdistrict.org.Lunch prices rising:Lunch will cost a little bit more for Fremont Elementary District 79 students starting in the fall. The school board on Monday agreed to increase the cost to $2.40 from $2.25. Additionally, milk and bottled water each will cost 45 cents, up from 35 cents. It's the first time in five years the prices have increased, Superintendent Rick Taylor said.Antioch Rotary hosting Final Four party:The Antioch Rotary Club is hosting a fundraising party during the NCAA Final Four Tournament on Saturday, April 3, from 4 p.m. to midnight at Dockers North, 955 N. Route 59, Antioch. Tickets are $50 and include dinner and a raffle ticket. All proceeds will support Antioch education programs, scholarships and humanitarian relief efforts, organizers said. Tickets can be purchased at antiochrotary.org or at the State Bank of the Lakes, 440 Lake Street, Antioch.
