Cops seek man who robbed Schaumburg bank
FBI agents believe the man who robbed a TCF Bank in Schaumburg Monday afternoon is the same man who robbed a Hoffman Estates branch Saturday.
The suspect in both incidents is a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 30 years of age, FBI spokesman Ross Rice said.
Sgt. John Nebl of the Schaumburg Police Department said the suspect walked up to the counter of TCF Bank in the Jewel-Osco at 2501 W. Schaumburg Road at about 2:15 p.m. Monday, handed the teller a note, and walked out of the store with cash.
Nebl said the man is further described as having a heavy build. He was wearing prescription glasses, a black, coat with a gray stripe across the chest, gray hooded sweatshirt and a black baseball cap.
Nebl said the man did not display or imply he had a weapon.
The Hoffman Estates robbery occurred at 6:36 p.m. Saturday at the TCF Bank in the Jewel-Osco store at 1069 N. Roselle Road.
As in the Schaumburg incident, the suspect did not display a weapon during the robbery and no one was hurt.
According to Hoffman Estates police, the man approached a bank teller and passed a note demanding money. After the teller complied, the suspect left with an undisclosed amount. He drove away in a white work van with ladders on top, police said.
