Roselle man charged after BB gun scare

A Roselle man was arrested Thursday after causing a scare with his BB gun near Waterbury Elementary School in Roselle, authorities said.

Police said they responded at 11:45 a.m. to a report of a male in a dark trench coat walking with a female in the area near the school at Dorchester Court and Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Police said they found John R. Sindewald, 23, of the 400 block of Glenmore Place, shooting a BB gun at a tree in the company of his girlfriend and her children.

Sindewald was charged under a local ordinance for unlawful use of a weapon, police said. The woman and children were not charged.

He is free on bond, pending a court date in Glendale Heights, officials said.
