Keaggy to pick his guitar to aid Aurora charity
Rebuilding Together Aurora has tapped guitar-picking legend Phil Keaggy to launch a fundraising concert series to support its April repair blitz.
Keaggy will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday in the East Aurora High School Auditorium.
Rebuilding Together Aurora is a nonprofit organization that provides free home repair services for senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families residing in owner-occupied homes in Aurora.
The organization is gearing up for its 2010 April Rebuilding Event and hoping to rehab 32 to 35 homes. Net proceeds of the concert will go directly for construction materials for this year's blitz.
"We are so very fortunate to be having the legendary Phil Keaggy open our series," Executive Director Emily Stern said. "Anyone who has seen Phil in concert knows he's one of the very best performers in the world. Phil's concert will be an unforgettable evening."
Keaggy, a two-time Grammy nominee, is an acoustic and electric guitarist and vocalist who has released more than 50 albums and contributed to many more recordings in both the contemporary Christian music and mainstream markets.
Tickets for the show are $20 for general admission and $30 for preferred seating. They can be purchased at www.ticketweb.com or by calling the Rebuilding Together Aurora office at (630) 585-7510. More information can be found at www.rebuildingtogetheraurora.com.
