Coyotes getting less fearful of humans
I have read many letters by people who are against euthanizing coyotes in Wheaton. Let me say, that they are wild animals and they are becoming less afraid of humans.
Currently, they only attack pets. And by the way, I have pets of my own. Does anyone really want to take a chance of them becoming more emboldened and someday attacking a child? This is not far-fetched.
A while back, a woman wrote a letter during an outrage over culling the deer herds. She said that the deer in her neighborhood became so bold that they would wait for her outside her door and attack her to get the garbage she was attempting to throw away. These were deer, deer!
What if the coyotes become that aggressive? Does anyone want to wait and find out? Yes, I know, coyotes are beautiful animals, but so are lions and tigers. I wouldn't want them running around in my neighborhood either, would you?
