2 charged in robbery of Antioch fast-food restaurant
Two people have been charged with aggravated robbery and felony theft in the holdup of an Antioch fast-food restaurant about 18 months ago, police officials said.
Daniel Arroyo, 20, of the 1500 block of Lincoln Street in North Chicago, and Tiffany M. Vilchis, 20, of the 0 to 100 block of Aspen Colony in Fox Lake, were both charged with the armed robbery of the Kentucky Fried Chicken at 325 W. Route 173 on Oct. 10, 2008, said Cmdr. Jim Ruth of the Antioch Police Department. Police say Arroyo used a gun to rob the restaurant after closing time.
Ruth said Antioch police were contacted by Hainesville police Wednesday with a tip that Vilchis knew something about the crime.
Police learned that Vilchis was working at the KFC on the night of the robbery and had orchestrated the robbery with Arroyo, Ruth said. Arroyo made off with more than $2,000 in cash.
If convicted, Ruth said the pair could spend up to 15 years behind bars.
Each is being held in Lake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
