Kudos on Kane's effort to ease foreclosures

In response to James Fuller's article, Kane County might force mediation to ease the foreclosure crisis. Kudos to Sheriff Perez and Judge F. Keith Brown for trying to force banks to mediate with homeowners in foreclosure. Luckily, they will be working at the state level, as it seems to me that the banks are steering the bus and our federal government is joy riding in the back row.

Our government has tried to force the hands of the lenders many times to no avail. Our government is clueless when it comes to the banks and foreclosures. This is why our housing market is still a disaster.

I was amused by the word "force." Why on earth would the banks want to help anyone in foreclosure? Because they caused this whole mess? Ha!, guess again. Their intention is to work out as little out as possible. They make money on the foreclosures they take back.

A loss mitigator explained it this way; They put in their claims for any damages from frozen pipes, broken windows, missing toilets, etc. They then get a nice big check. Then the FDIC gives them a check for 80 to 95 percent of the original loan amount, and then when they sell the foreclosure, they get another fat check.

You see the recurring subject? Check, check, check. If anyone can prove this wrong, please do. I hate thinking this may be right and the feds are asleep in the back of the bus.
