Weather spotter class at Benedictine
Area residents interested in becoming trained weather spotters for the National Weather Service may enroll in a class from 1 to 3 p.m. March 15, in the Krasa Center at Benedictine University, 5700 College Road, Lisle.
The class is free. The NWS trains people to identify severe storms and tornadoes and report them via communication networks such as local and county emergency management, law enforcement and amateur radio.
Some spotters are mobile in vehicles, but most spot from fixed strategic locations such as schools, hospitals and retirement facilities. RSVP at (630) 829-6369.
