Aurora seeks parade help Aurora's Special Events Division is asking nonprofit organizations to help find volunteers to act as parade route marshals for the annual Memorial Day and/or Independence Day parades. The volunteers will be expected to work two or three hours the days of the parades. A donation will be made to the organizations that supply route marshals. Applications are posted on the city's Web site at www.aurora-il.org. The deadline to apply is March 26. Information is available at (630) 844-4731.Convalescent center talent Residents, staff, volunteers, family members and community members all are slated to perform at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, when the DuPage Convalescent Center sponsors its second annual DPCC's Got Talent at 400 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. Awards will be presented to the top acts. The judges include Linda Dolan, leisure center manager for Wheaton Park District; Martha McMillen, a director, singer and writer; and John Apple, founder and conductor of the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra. Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors and $11 for students and may be purchased by calling (630) 637-7469.Public service scholarshipsNaperville Park District is accepting applications through 5 p.m. April 16 for the 2010 Officer David White Scholarship. The scholarship honors the compassionate public service modeled by Naperville park police officer David White, whose actions helped save a young man's life in 2006. The $2,000 scholarship is open to an individual 25 and younger who is the son or daughter of a Naperville police officer, park police officer or firefighter, or who is serving in one of those roles themselves. Naperville Police Explorers also are eligible. Applications can be downloaded at napervilleparks.org under "About us/Police."
