Learn why the census matters

The League of Women Voters of the Barrington Area has scheduled an informational meeting on the upcoming U.S. Census at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 24, at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Hwy.

The census results affect political representation and direct the allocation of billions of dollars in government funding for critical community services. Today's meeting covers census basics such as history, why the census matters, use of technology and privacy, as well as giving time for questions and answers.

Census questionnaires will be mailed next month and the timing of the meeting is intended to encourage all Barrington-area residents to "Stand Up and Be Counted."
