Library's upper level to close:The upper level of Naperville's downtown Nichols Library will be closed for repairs to its lighting system from March 1 through 3, officials announced Tuesday. The area houses the library's adult and teen collections and service desks. The entire ceiling grid is being replaced with a more energy efficient lighting system and new ceiling tiles will be installed. Naperville's Naper Boulevard and 95th Street libraries will be open during the repairs and patrons are being asked to use those facilities if possible.No one hurt in small hotel fire: No one was injured in a small fire Monday evening in a guest room at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 790 Jorie Blvd., Oak Brook, authorities said Tuesday. Firefighters said they responded at 6:47 p.m. and evacuated the building after finding smoke on the fourth floor. The room's fire sprinkler had extinguished the blaze, limiting the fire damage, but there was water damage to rooms on the floors directly below the fire. Firefighters spent roughly two hours on the scene.Residents can discuss barn: Residents can review and comment on plans to reuse a barn at Greene Valley Forest Preserve in Naperville during an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the DuPage County Forest Preserve headquarters, 3S580 Naperville Road near Wheaton. The district plans to restore the Greene Farm barn near Greene and Hobson roads with an eye toward renovating the structure for multiuse space. Preliminary plans will be posted on the district's Web site at www.dupageforest.org. Two $1,750 scholarships will be awarded in May for the 2010-11 academic year. Graduating seniors or their parents may pick up applications in the high school guidance counselor's offices at Lake Park West, Conant, Driscoll, Wheaton Academy and St. Francis schools; at village hall or the public library; or on the chamber Web site at rosellechamber.com.
