Support Wheaton Grand Theater

I recently was fortunate enough to see a wonderful musical performance by the stars of the production of Jersey Boys at the Wheaton Grand Theater. When I heard of the opportunity to experience the music and showmanship of the group, and to help support the theater's restoration project, I bought tickets to take my mother who is battling cancer.

We arrived in downtown and there was a buzz in the air. We were excited to be among the full house of about 400 people that were welcomed by host Ray Shepardson, and enjoyed a great show. The stars belted out tune after tune, with the backing of a great band. We went to the after-show party at The Bank restaurant where we took pictures, talked, and rubbed elbows with the stars of the show. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed the night out.

My point to this letter is to urge the support by the city of Wheaton, its businesses and most importantly, its residents to commit to restoring the Wheaton Grand Theater. It can provide an opportunity for people to enjoy each other, and what entertainment can offer us. For me, it gave me a Kairos moment, a special moment in time with my mom.

From the time we spent together there, we both have a lasting joyous memory. It is my belief that the restoration of the Wheaton Grand will provide a boost to the economy of downtown Wheaton. More important though, is the energy it will bring to the hearts of those who will enjoy its splendor, and create their memories in time. Please support the restoration of the Wheaton Grand Theater.
