Why should Dems decide candidate?
Why do party insiders have any right to pick the new Democratic lieutenant governor candidate? What happened to government for the people and by the people?
All who voted Feb. 2 voiced their opinion, and, as I understand, Scott Lee Cohen won, and the runner up is Arthur Turner. So what decision is there to make? It is very clear. The people would choose Turner, as the winning candidate now that Cohen has stepped down.
Where do the parties' members have the power to choose a running mate for Quinn? The people have clearly selected Turner as second choice. The people of Illinois have the right to make that selection for the ballot in November, and they did on Feb. 2. Turner is second choice; the decision is made. This is not a decision to be made by the Democratic Party.
