Dist. 303 music faculty to give concert Friday
The St. Charles Unit District 303 Orchestra Faculty will perform its fifth annual special concert for their orchestra students and the community at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at the Arcada Theater, 105 E. Main St. in St. Charles.
The concert is designed to demonstrate their life-long commitment and love of music, practicing their instrument, and the arts. Through this performance, they hope to inspire and instill a life-long passion for music in their students.
Musical selections will primarily feature the music of Brahms, including two of his "Hungarian Dances" and the Piano Trio in C minor, opus 101. Other selections will include a cello duet, and a string rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama" and the Beatles' "Blackbird."
A drawing of musical prizes will also take place to students who attend the concert.
Performance is free, but donations will be accepted to raise money for music camp scholarships.
Performers will be: violinists Angie Wifler of Norton Creek and Anderson elementary schools and Andy Masters of Bell-Graham and Wasco elementary schools; viola player Rita Borkowski of Fox Ridge and Munhall Schools; cellist and bassist Sandy Pogge of Haines Middle School; and cellists Erin Hansen of Lincoln and Davis, Ashley Hofer of Wild Rose and Richmond, Rachel Saldana of Ferson Creek and Corron elementary schools, and Jim Pesek of Wredling Middle School.
