Event to benefit museumThe DuPage County Historical Museum will host its first casino night from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. The museum in downtown Wheaton will be transformed into a 1920s-era casino with a variety of games, including blackjack and roulette. Guests will enjoy music, appetizers, drinks, raffle prizes, giveaways, entertainment, and $100 in "funny money." Tickets are $75 per person. Proceeds from the event will benefit the museum. For details, visit dupagemuseum.org.Park district awarded grantWheaton Park District recently received a $377,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Officials said the grant money will help pay for the renovation of Kelly Park. The 17-acre park at 1100 Main St. is slated to get amenities, including a splash pad, expanded basketball courts, skate rink improvements, warming shelter with fireplace, permanent restrooms and improved parking. For more information, visit wheatonparkdistrict.com.Scholarship offeredDuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba and the Illinois Sheriff's Association plan to award a $500 scholarship to a DuPage resident who wishes to pursue higher education during the 2010-2011 academic school year. The scholarship recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Applications are available at dupagesheriff.org.
