July 4 parade fundraiser: Carol Stream's Fourth of July Parade committee will sponsor a Family Food Night fundraiser all day Feb. 25 at Village Tavern Grill, 291 S. Schmale Road. The parade committee will receive 20 percent of the pre-tax bill from any patron who presents a flier that can be picked up at Carol Stream village hall, 500 N. Gary Ave., or at www.carolstreamparade.com. The parade committee is a volunteer group that organizes the annual parade.Podiatrist collecting shoes: Suburban Podiatry - Warrenville is joining podiatrists across the state and the nonprofit charity Share Your Soles to collect shoes for victims of the Haiti earthquake. Share Your Soles was founded in 1999 to address an unmet need for shoes among children in Central America. To contribute, you can drop off new or gently used shoes at Suburban Podiatry, 28W530 Batavia Road, Warrenville. For details, call (630) 393-1970.Bowl-A-Rama fundraiser:The annual Lutherbrook Bowl-A-Rama is set for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13-14, at Stardust Bowl, 37 E. Lorraine Ave., Addison. More than 2,400 bowlers have raised roughly $330,000 over the past six years to benefit children at Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center in Addison. Participants in this year's event will bowl from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. or 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. on either or both days. Supporters may donate online at www.lcfs.org/bowlarama. Lutherbrook Child and Adolescent Center is a treatment facility for children and youths with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties.Jazz festival in Elmhurst:The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival takes center stage for the 43rd year from Feb. 26-28 at the school. The three-day fest will feature, among others, Wayne Bergeron, Michael Davis, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Warren Luening, Phil Markowitz, Tom Scott, Gary Smulyan, Bill Watrous and Patrick Williams. Shows will be at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26-27 and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 28. The fest also will feature some of the country's premier university and jazz bands. Tickets are $7 through $28 and available at www.elmhurst.edu/jazzfestival.
