Aurora man charged in Lisle robbery

An Aurora man was arrested Friday on a warrant for a robbery last April at the 7-Eleven store at 1100 Ogden Ave., Lisle, authorities said.

Elijah Walker III, 39, of 1238 Rural St., was charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a Class 1 felony.

He was transported to DuPage County jail where he is being held on $150,000 bond.

Lisle police Sgt. Randall Johnson said Walker entered the 7-Eleven shortly after midnight April 25, picked up a bottle of beer and brought it to the counter.

He said Walker then stepped behind the counter and ordered the clerk to open the cash drawer. When the clerk hesitated, Walker lifted the bottle and threatened the employee.

He escaped with about $250, Johnson said.

A short time later, a Downers Grove police officer spotted a car speeding and driving recklessly. The officer felt it unsafe to pursue the vehicle, but copied the license number.

Randall said investigators used that plate number and surveillance footage from the store to track down Walker, who was arrested without incident Friday morning as he left his Aurora home.
