Three reasons why people don't vote
I think more people would vote if Illinois or candidates for office change three things. 1. Have open, not closed primaries. I have never voted a party line but am forced to select candidates from only one party. I am not allowed to select the person I feels is best for the office.
2. Stop robo calls. They say nothing and are a nuisance that turn voters off to the entire process.
3. Candidates need to start telling us what their plans are instead of telling us that they "have a plan." I heard and saw nothing of substance from anyone prior to the recent primary. The closest we got was that the "Stroger" tax would be repealed. No one told us the cuts that would be made to balance the Cook County budget.
