Big government worse than big biz

Letters to Fence Post dated Feb. 4 and 5 caught my eye. Both dealt with big, bad corporations' disregard for "the people."

First, the absurd analogy of the senators from Walmart, Aetna, Exxon-Mobil, et al throwing "the people" under the bus. Continuing the absurdity, I see those senators protecting most us from the likes of the senators from SEIU, AFL-CIO, UAW, AFT, etc. and, lest we forget, the senators from ACORN and the American Trial Lawyers' Association who can cut their insider deals directly with the White House. They are doing far more to hurt our country's economic recovery than big business, individually or collectively.

Secondly, the unions and trade associations are not "people" either and should, likewise, get out of our elections. Besides, we all know "the people" are well-informed and can intelligently vote for candidates and issues on their own. Nothing would be better for most of us these days than to support those who can provide long-term, meaningful jobs versus supporting the featherbedding and self-perpetuating inefficiencies of growing government bureaucracy.
