Nonplused over non-primary choices

I voted in the primary election, which is supposed to help the parties select candidates for November's election. I was surprised - no, shocked - to see so few candidates running.

Most people in my area were running unopposed. Some of these even had their campaign signs along the highways. It looks as though the Democrats had already made up their minds, and mine, as to who they wanted in office. I wasted my time by such nonvoting.
