No more than 24 years for senators
Am I the only one? Hasn't anyone else noticed that our senators are dressed no different from Donald Trump, including the tan? I know a $2,500 custom suit when I see one.
Of course, I expect our senatorial royalty should look good. After all, they represent the American people, at least most of the time. Have you noticed the camera never pans down to their shoes? I suspect we would see some Italian Ferragamo loafers at $500 a pop, or at least some $350 French Mephistos. One does not walk around with a $2,500 suit shod in Shoe City shoes. Let's skip the tie I think you get the idea.
Beside their fashion needs, they have a need for dual residences, along with the upkeep on two homes and traveling back and forth - all on about $150,000 a year (after all deductions). Don't you wish they did as an incredible job on our budget as they seem to do on theirs?
I think the time has come to get rid of senators who have held office more than 24 years, less for representatives; party does not matter. Some have been in office almost 50 years.
There are many sons and daughters who have aspirations for office, however, they must first wait until someone dies. Look no further than our own Illinois Perma-Senator. This coming 2010 election, we should make way for some new faces. Royaltyitis is a Washington disease that eventually effects most everyone; besides, I bet their spouses would like to see them safe at home drying the dishes.
