Woman forced to withdraw money from Schaumburg ATM

A 53-old-woman was abducted by two masked men outside a Schaumburg home and forced to withdraw money at an ATM before being released, police said Saturday.

The Houston woman, who was treated for injuries at a nearby hospital, was walking to a relative's home from where she had parked her car in the 1900 block of Evening Song Court just after 3 a.m. Friday.

That's where two masked men approached her, and one displayed a gun and took her purse, police said. They forced the woman into her vehicle and drove to a nearby bank to make a withdrawal using the victim's ATM card.

The suspects then drove around briefly before releasing the woman and abandoning the vehicle along Barrington Road in Hoffman Estates.

The woman was injured when she was hit by the offenders. She was treated at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, police said.

One of the suspects is described as heavy set and about 5-feet-9 inches. The second one is thin and 6 feet tall. Both suspects wore dark clothing and full black face masks over their heads.

Schaumburg police ask anyone who was in the area of Evening Song Court or Barrington and Golf roads between 3 and 4:30 a.m. Friday and may have witnessed anything to call the department's criminal investigations bureau at (847) 882-3534.

Police also reminded citizens to park in well lit areas and remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings and the presence of suspicious persons.
