Woman's lawsuit claims Michael Irvin assaulted her

MIAMI -- Former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin has been sued by a woman claiming he sexually assaulted her more than two years ago at a Florida hotel.

The woman is identified only as "Jane Doe" in the lawsuit. It was filed Thursday in Broward County Circuit Court, only a few days before Sunday's Super Bowl game in South Florida.

The woman claims that Irvin and a second man assaulted her in July 2007 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The incident was reported a few weeks later to Seminole police, but a spokesman said the woman later signed a waiver of prosecution.

The Broward State Attorney's office continues to investigate the claims.

Irvin's attorney says the claims are untrue and said the lawsuit amounted to an extortion attempt.
