Barrington High student dies

Barrington High School junior Maria Patino died late Wednesday night from complications following surgery.

She had been hospitalized while recovering from a kidney transplant. Staff and students at the high school were shaken by the news they received on Thursday, the school said in a news release.

Grief counselors will be available Friday at the high school, which younger siblings and cousins of Patino also attend. Funeral arrangements were still pending late Thursday.
