Take pledge to keep people working

Pledge this. Many candidates in Illinois who are vying for office make a big deal out of their willingness to sign a pledge not to raise taxes. They argue that they can balance the budget just by cutting spending. The problem is that cutting spending usually means laying off people and increasing the roles of the unemployed.

I ask these candidates to sign a similar pledge stating that, if elected, their policies and actions will not cause additional layoffs and unemployment in Illinois.

We need elected officials who can think outside the box, not the same old slash-and-burn "let's lay off people to cut expenses to balance the budget" that we have been given us in the past.
