Why are we worried about trees?

Let's see. Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Nuclear threats in Iran. Ten percent-plus unemployment. Governments at all levels broke. A national debate on health care - one sixth of our economy. Energy issues looming.

Public officials who could better spend time working on any of the above instead choose to hold a public forum on prairie path tree trimming. ComEd, instead of working on energy issues, is forced to spend money on attorneys and community relations employees to attend.

Citizens who could actually spend time helping the homeless, volunteer to tutor children or myriad other activities that could help people, instead choose to help trees.

This is a priority for our county government?
