Red Wings call Williams up
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have taken Jason Williams off injured reserve and sent Justin Abdelkader to the minors.
Detroit coach Mike Babcock announced the moves Friday before hosting the Nashville Predators.
Williams hasn't played since breaking his right leg Nov. 7 at Toronto. He had two goals and seven points in 15 games before being injured.
Abdelkader had three goals and six points in 50 games this season. Babcock said he will benefit from playing about a lot for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League instead getting limited ice time for the Red Wings.
He had two goals in the 2009 Stanley Cup finals after spending most of the last season in the minors. He scored Michigan State's national championship-winning goal in 2007.
