Intel honors Central student:
A Naperville Central High School student, Katherine Rebecca Rudolph, is one of 40 seniors from across the country selected as a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search 2010, America's oldest pre-college science competition. Finalists will gather March 11-16 in Washington, D.C., to compete for $630,000 in awards. Rudolph's project involved maximal densities of high-dimensional sphere packings.
University opens wing:
The College of Nursing and Health Studies at Robert Morris University will hold a grand opening of the DuPage Campus Medical Wing from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at 905 Meridian Lake Drive, Aurora. Parks seek resident input:
Naperville Park District is seeking community members to serve on a review team to consider preliminary options for improving the Barn Recreation Center and Central Maintenance Shop, both at 421 W. Martin Ave., Naperville. Anyone wishing to participate should submit a brief letter of interest to Eric Shutes, director of planning, by Feb. 3. The letter should include any relevant qualifications, experience or background. Letters may be sent to Naperville Park District, 320 W. Jackson Ave., Naperville, IL 60540 to the attention of Eric Shutes or e-mailed to eshutes@napervilleparks.org.
Book sale donations sought:
Wiesbrook Elementary School in Wheaton is seeking donations of books, CDs, DVDs, video games and other items for its used book sale. Materials for children through adults are needed for the school's Feb. 6 fundraiser. Donations will be accepted between 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday at the school, 2160 Durfee Road. Volunteers will be on hand to meet donors at their cars, unload items and provide a receipt for tax purposes, as well as a coupon to be used at the sale. Proceeds from the sale will be used for PTA-sponsored activities for the students of Wiesbrook.
