No easy solutions in government
Here in DuPage County we are facing the ugly reality of government service cuts at all levels as well as cuts to the government contributions to social services that will make current conditions even harder on the growing numbers of our neighbors and fellow citizens who need those services most.
There are no easy, glib or one-size-fits-all solutions. There will need to be hard work, creative thinking, debate and selfless sacrifice from now on to surmount the obstacles we are facing.
Luckily there are people like Brad Webb, candidate for the district 4 seat on the DuPage County Board.
But why would Brad Webb, a successful businessman whose family business is part of an industry that has been devastated by the current economic crisis, choose to put himself out there and run for a seat on the country board?
I know Brad and I like Brad but he's not out there for me alone. He's out there because DuPage County where he grew up, where his family lives, and where he runs his business needs fresh sets of eyes to look at the current crisis situations and help develop solutions for our entire county.
Brad will contribute to DuPage County government with valuable points of view, knowledge and commitment to:
• Work aggressively to recruit businesses to the county through Choose DuPage
• Develop contingency plans for all county budgets so that the county isn't caught short and citizens hurt
• Create better measures of the effectiveness of county programs so that services are delivered for the betterment of all the citizens of DuPage County
So, I urge you all to vote for Brad because he will make valuable contributions now for the best future for DuPage County.
