Antioch home damaged in fire:No one was injured in a fire that destroyed a home in the 42000 block of Crawford Road near Antioch Monday night. Officials from the Newport Township Fire Protection District responded to the blaze at 10:15 p.m. and found fire coming from a large, single-family home with attached garage. Officials called for a second alarm and extinguished the fire within an hour. Fifteen departments from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin responded to the fire. The fire remains under investigation.New superintendent chosen:The Fremont School District 79 board on Monday hired Jill Gildea as its new superintendent. She will replace Rick Taylor, who is retiring at the end of the school year, as leader of the Mundelein-area district. Gildea now serves as superintendent of Harrison School District 36 in Wonder Lake. Forty-two people applied for the job. Gildea was one of six finalists.Adler Park principal chosen:Jon R. Bogie Jr. was hired Monday by the Libertyville Elementary District 70 school board as principal of Adler Park School as of July 1. Bogie, of Northbrook, is currently a co-interim principal at Apollo School in Des Plaines. He will replace Janet Brownlie, who is retiring after the school year. Bogie, 38, also taught fourth grade for 10 years at Winkelman Elementary School in Glenview. He has master's degree in teaching from National Louis University and a bachelor's degree from Albion College. More than 50 people applied for the position.
