FREEze Day at Brookfield Zoo
Brookfield Zoo is inviting its guests to celebrate the dog days of winter on Sunday, Jan. 24, for the zoo's FREEze Day. The event features free winter activities throughout the day - and free zoo admission. See dog-sledding demonstrations and learn about adopting Siberian huskies. Native American storyteller and flute player Pat Moon will entertain guests. Visitors can also try their hand (and feet) at snowshoeing.

'Around the World With Percussion'
Travel the globe with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra Percussion Ensemble as it presents the "Around the World With Percussion" family concert. The ensemble will show off a variety of percussion instruments as it introduces the audience to music from Mexico, Egypt, the Caribbean, Africa and more. Preconcert family activities include arts and crafts and a hands-on musical drum circle.

Native American artwork
The Mitchell Museum of the American Indian is showcasing its newest exhibit, "Raising the Totem: Exploring Northwest Coast Indigenous Cultures." The exhibit focuses on the culture of Native Americans of the Northwest coast and includes 50 objects, such as cedar masks, totem pole molds, baskets and other items along with historical photos. The exhibit runs through Sunday, June 13.

Husky Heroes
The Morton Arboretum is expecting thousands of visitors to take part in its annual Husky Heroes event, featuring dog-sledding demonstrations by Siberian husky dogs. Other highlights include a Meet the Huskies event where guests can pet and meet Siberian husky dogs that are available for adoption. Representatives from Adopt A Husky Inc. will be on hand to answer questions.
