Arlington Heights man charged with drug possession
An Arlington Heights man on Saturday was charged with three counts of felony possession of controlled substances after police say drugs were found in his car during a traffic stop.
Erik J. Michalak, 31, of Oakton Avenue in Arlington Heights, was allegedly driving in a suspicious manner and was followed by Mount Prospect police along Central Road at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Lesley Gool.
Police stopped the car and did a search, and reported finding about 3 grams of clonazepam, a prescription medication ordinarily used to control seizures or panic disorders; about 3 grams of buprenorphine, an opioid similar to heroin, and about 4 grams of hydrocodone, a narcotic pain reliever, said Gool.
Cook County Circuit Court Judge Howard Fink set bond for Michalak at $4,000 bond. His next court appearance is set for Feb. 22 in Rolling Meadows.
