Signs must stay off public property

Kirk Dillard wants to save taxpayers' money? I am dismayed at the amount of illegal campaign advertising signs on public lands that Kirk Dillard, Republican candidate for Illinois governor, and his campaign have littered throughout my town of Mount Prospect along with Arlington Heights, Palatine, Barrington and others.

I visited Kirk Dillard's campaign Web site to contact them about this, but no one was available for my call. I called the mayor of Mount Prospect, and she informed me that campaign signs are not to be placed on public lands such as along Northwest Highway or at major intersections.

According to our mayor, all candidates sign a pledge that they will follow this mandate. I noticed Mr. Dillard claims as one of his primary platform issues a deep concern for fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and lowering government waste. I care about these issues, too. Who does Mr. Dillard think will pay for the removal of all the campaign pollution in all of our towns? There are hundreds of them.

I hope Mr. Dillard and all other political candidates will discontinue this unethical and illegal campaign practice immediately. Stop polluting our neighborhoods.
