Congressional event Saturday at SHS

Schaumburg High School will host an Illinois Congressional Debate Association Student Congress Invitational, starting at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 at the school, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

The SHS Debate team took second place sweepstakes overall at the Dundee-Crown High School Debate Tournament in November, placing first in overall legislation, with individual students Aaron Tucek (second place Speaking Award) and Safia Kazi (Critic's Choice Award) earning honors.

The school's Debate Team also participated in the Glenbrook High School National Tournament in November. This tournament is the nation's largest with over 2,000 students competing and representing more than 400 high schools from 35 states. Schaumburg High School sophomore Kali Froh placed fifth as a national quarterfinalist at the tourney.
