Schaumburg leaders out of touch with us

I have to laugh (no, cry) when I read what Al Larson said, "But then people (Schaumburg residents) were reacting as if we caused the recession." That shows how out of touch he is with his constituency! We're angry because he, the trustees, village manager and finance director have not been monitoring appropriately the financial health of the village over the past few years.

We're angry because other villages and cities have been working for months to manage their budgets, while Schaumburg pulls a fast one on its residents by announcing - during the start of the holiday season - a proposed property tax to be passed by the end of the year.

Even though I figured that it was a "done deal," I attended the Dec. 22 hearing on the tax. I know President Larson was there, but his comments indicate he wasn't listening to residents and business owners. We're all feeling the impact of the recession, and he and the trustees just made it worse for us.
