Four-part harmony star of ST. Charles library's next concert

The Sunday Afternoon Concert Series program features a performance by The Convertibles quartet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

The group has its roots in four-part barbershop harmony, but audiences are likely to hear a mixture of ballads from the '40s, doo-wop from the '50s, pop from the '60s and a few surprises.

Lead singer Lou Gonzalez is a union pipe-fitter, Ron Welch, who sings bass, is a retired village fire department chief. The tenor Tom Weidenhoefer has a special talent for choreography, and baritone Glenn Kersten is a suburban reference librarian. All four of The Convertibles live in the south suburbs of Chicago.

The concerts are all free and you do not need a St. Charles Library card to attend.
