Lake County man held in killing of Zion man

A 32-year-old man was ordered held on $3 million bond on two counts of first degree murder in the shooting death of a Zion man on Jan. 1, which police believe was motivated by jealousy over a woman.

Joseph Murray, who has recent addresses in Zion and Waukegan, was ordered held Friday after a bond hearing in death of Curtis Pride, 33, at his home in the 2700 block of Galilee Avenue in Zion.

Murray was arrested in Chicago on Wednesday after an investigation by the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force and Zion police, with help from the U.S. Marshal's Office, police said in a news release.

Authorities say Murray has an extensive criminal history and was paroled from the Illinois Department of Corrections in January 2009. In 2001, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison. He was returned to prison last April after being arrested in Zion, then released again in November, police said.
